Aurèle is a French post-industrial artist, best known for his figure of the LostDog, a giant bull terrier which has come to represent the displacement of mankind. The work was originally conceived after the artist stumbled upon a poster for a lost dog in New York in 1986. Aurèle's work draws upon social movements throughout history, various artistic movements, and his own personal histories, and often reflects the themes of loneliness, political persecution, and his strong views on the environment. Aurèle lives and works between New York, Shanghai and Paris.
